After our 2 classes with the presentations, I share with you the information I've gotten about Zimbabwe.
I rescued the most important things I presented to you yesterday.
-Zimbabwe has ten administrative provinces. -Each province has a Governor (Resident Minister) who is appointed by the President. -The role of the Governor is four fold namely: a)political, b)consultative, c)developmental, d)co-ordinative.
The controversial information as we talked yesterday is the next one: -Local government is concerned with local democracy and the decentralization. -Democratic rights. -In rural areas Zimbabwe has urban councils (that are not elected by the population). -General elections are held every four years (are made by a chairman).
Finally a little more information about Zimbabwe that shows to us also a young State:
Capital: –and largest city- Harare Government: semi presidential, parliamentary, consociationalist republic President: Robert Mugabe Independence: from the United Kingdom Proclaimed: November, 11, 1965 Recognized: April, 18, 1980 Population: 13,349,000
If you want more information about "the local government systems of Zimbabwe" you can try the official web site: http://www.mlgpwud.gov.zw/index.htm
After the presentation about government situation in Zimbabwe tomorrow I'll talk to you around the education area (there are many interesting things to dialogue)
